My art journey began in junior high school while watching a slide presentation in an art history class. A painting of a desert landscape appeared on the screen, and I sat up straight! Its vibrant colors breathed life into a barren terrain and in me.
The painting was by the late American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Her work and trailblazing fearlessness gave me hope that I could strive to be a successful “woman artist.” I applied to the Manhattan High School of Art and Design and was accepted. This was the power of a painting.
In college, I majored in commercial art and took fine art classes in the evenings to learn the techniques of the great masters. Why the Masters? To prove to the naysayers in my life that I was a “real artist.” Of, course, now I know better. Don’t listen to naysayers! And find your own artistic voice.
My blog celebrates my creative expression, commitment, and enthusiasm for the arts. I believe showing our artwork in whatever genres we express them, talking about art, and our process, esteems us as creatives (and people), and encourages others.

Over the years, I’ve sold my work on Etsy, enjoyed exhibiting locally at libraries and even at Borders! My most recent library show was in 2023 – an entire exhibition born of a dream.
In the past, I’ve participated in juried art shows and charity events. At present, I am enrolled at the Milan Art School exploring abstract realism and various new techniques! You’re never too old to keep learning! And whenever I ride my electric scooter around town, and people smile, I say the same thing – you’re never too old – as I whiz on by.
